Understand the Extension's Permissions

Planned workflow: Understand each permission the released extension requests, when Instagram page access is used, and what happens if you deny an optional permission.

What permissions does the current extension request?

The development manifest requests storage, alarms, sidePanel, identity, activeTab, scripting. Its persistent host permission is https://repostlens.com/*; it has no cookies permission or persistent Instagram host permission. User-initiated page access is separate from server-side account and billing data.

Local storage and scheduling

Storage supports extension-owned data and browser-session coordination; alarms wake the coordinator. The persistent database is authoritative when the worker is restarted.

Instagram page access

The current manifest does not grant Instagram page access. Any future host or page-execution permission needs an implemented purpose, approval, disclosure, and compatibility evidence.

Product account sign-in

Google product sign-in runs through the website’s existing authentication. It does not require sending Instagram credentials to this product’s server.

Denying optional permissions

Optional access must not be requested as though already required by the current build. Denial needs a clear capability explanation rather than a silent failure or Pro upsell.
