How to Stop Unexpected Instagram Auto-Following

Planned workflow: Work through unexpected follows, connected tools, and active sessions. Learn what to check without assuming Instagram has a universal auto-follow-back switch.

How should I investigate unexpected Instagram auto-following?

Review account access, connected tools and recent actions using Instagram's current account-security guidance. This extension does not claim it can stop an account compromise or an unknown third-party automation. Do not install a growth tool as a substitute for securing the account.

Identify what is creating the follows

First distinguish a task you deliberately started from unexpected account activity. A changing Following count alone does not identify the cause or prove that a particular tool acted.

Review connected apps and sessions

Review tools with connected access and account sessions using Instagram’s current official guidance. Exact settings paths have not been verified here; do not rely on a guessed universal auto-follow-back switch.

Pause any task you started

If you control a running task, Pause or Stop it before investigating. A sent request may still complete; retain Unknown records and avoid repeated writes.

Check account security and current settings

Unexpected activity may require a separate account-security review. This product cannot promise to diagnose or stop every cause, and purchasing Pro is not required for troubleshooting.
